Enter a price and your hourly pay.
How to calculate hours of work for a purchase
Divide the price by your hourly take-home pay. A $1,200 phone at $20 an hour after tax is 60 hours of work, or 7.5 eight-hour days.
Using after-tax pay gives the most realistic answer, because that is the money you can actually spend. If you only know your salary, try the hourly to salary calculator first.

Frequently asked questions
Should I use pre-tax or after-tax pay?
After-tax pay shows how long you really work for the money. Pre-tax pay gives a smaller number that ignores what you owe in tax.
Does the result include sales tax?
No. Add any sales tax or shipping to the price first.
